Services
Many families and individuals come to HEP lacking access to everything from personal hygiene to medical care. With community partnerships and personalized case management, HEP is able to provide a variety of needed support services.

Dental Care

Medicare does not provide coverage for dental services while Medicaid provides only limited assistance. This leads to critical issues of tooth decay and infection leading to constant, debilitating pain and embarrassment. The HEP Free Dental Clinic was created in 1994 by Dr. C. William Johnston. It is an affiliate of Project: Dentists Care, Inc., which is an outreach program of the Florida Dental Association (FDA).

Many of our patients have gone for years or even a lifetime without preventative dental care.

Dental Clinic-at-a-Glance

  • Provides free dental care for uninsured residents of HEP who fall below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Provides a full range of services including emergency relief of pain, preventative, and restorative care
  • Run entirely on the generosity of volunteer dentists from the community
  • Volunteers are granted sovereign immunity from liability
  • Operational funding for the clinic is received entirely from private contributions
  • During 2011, dental clinic volunteer dentists performed 2,179  procedures valued at over $305,103

Allegany Franciscan Ministries $200,000 Grant to Dental Clinic

Allegany Franciscan Ministries awarded a $200,000 grant to help fund the HEP Dental Clinic over the next two years. With the award, HEP will hire a full-time Office Manager, a critical component to this ever-expanding program, and streamline operations to provide a more efficient clinical setting for dental patients. To learn more about this innovative program and others like it, email Libby Stone, Vice President, or call her at 727.442.9041, Ext. 115.

Check out the press release providing more details about this grant.
